The Washington Fire Department is a volunteer service in this town of approximately 520 residents. Their outdoor warning device is located atop a wood pole on the east side of the firehouse building at 103 E. Carter on the north edge of town.
The siren consists of two rows of six horns each, sounding in a full 360 degrees. Sirens in Oklahoma, although used for fire alerts are most often used to alert of incoming tornadoes.
