"In my father's house are many mansions" spans the two sides of an open book atop the monument, while the book's reverse has floral detail. As the head of the family back in those days, Mr. Chandler gets top billing for the front of the monument, where the family name, "Chandler", is right above the plinth. His panel has a cross and crown, and it reads:
W.J. Chandler,
Born
Feb. 27, 1833,
Departed this
life
Dec. 18, 1894.
He has gone to mansions
of rest.
---
Mrs. Chandler is on the opposite side, her panel probably being the last to be added, and it features only text:
Elvira,
Wife of
W.J. Chandler
Born
Aug. 19, 1841,
Died
June 6, 1926.
-----
The children each have a plate on the remaining sides. Marvin has funeral draping above this text:
Marvin Peirce
Chandler,
Born
Mar. 14, 1880,
Died
Sept. 23, 1897.
Blessed are the dead
that die in the Lord.
... while Lucy's text is below a mourning dove:
Lucy Daniel
Chandler,
Born
Feb. 17, 1886,
Died
May 21, 1889.
The gates of Heaven
opened wide for her.
