CDs, Records, Tapes – all the good stuff. I am part of a dying breed: I can’t imagine "Sympathy for the Devil" without the good old vinyl scratch noise. for me, an original record is worth a lot more than a digitally "remastered" CD. So, I was glad when I found this store and the visit exceeded expectation by bringing back some cherished memories:
I grew up in East Germany and one of the many things that didn’t make it through the Iron Curtain was rock music records. Our only way to gain access to western music was to (illegally) listen to western radio stations (my favorite was the American Forces Network) and (illegally) taping the music. Good recordings were worth their weight in gold. In 1977, I paid a week’s worth of pay for a tape recording of Emerson, Lake and Palmer’s "Pictures at an Exhibition." I treasured that tape until it was totally worn out. At my first visit to "Replay" I got the original for $3.50! Thank you!
