In the garden of the Parkes Observatory is a pair of parabolic dishes 50m apart. When standing in front of one of the dishes you can clearly hear someone speaking quietly even from across the gardens .
The visitors centre at Parkes Observatory is open to the public 7 days a week from 0830 to 1615. Entry is free to the visitors centre, telescope viewing area and astronomy and space science exhibition
