"The Fire District provides first response and fire protection, in and around the Pilot Grove community.
"The City of Pilot Grove, MO has asked to be included within the boundaries of the Pilot Grove Rural Fire Protection District.
"Mutually beneficial to both the City of Pilot Grove and Pilot Grove Rural Fire Department. The Pilot Grove Rural Fire Department is able to secure it's borders with other Fire Departments. The City of Pilot Grove receives access to newer equipment without the need for an agreement with the Rural Fire Department.
"Combining assets and expenses with one mutually beneficial Fire District with a governing Board voted on by the members of the District.
"Greater ability to maintain a lower ISO Rating for the City of Pilot Grove and surrounding area. Resulting in lower premiums from your insurance company. The Insurance Service Office rates Fire Departments (ISO Rating), which Insurance Companies then use to set rates on homes and businesses. A town class rating of one (1) being the lowest with a ten (10) being the highest rating.
"The City of Pilot Grove enjoys the low rating of town class six (6) which is reflected in the insurance premiums we pay to our choice of companies. Maintaining this rating is going to necessitate newer equipment in the near future, which the City of Pilot Grove alone cannot afford.
"If the City were to lose the current town class rating of six and increase to an eight or higher it would be reflected in higher insurance rates from our insurance providers.
"Do the citizens of Pilot Grove want to pay a little for fire protection or send more money to their insurance company?
