Saint Fiacre was an Irish abbot who lived in the 7th century. He built an oratory at Breuil, France and later founded a monastery to accommodate his growing number of disciples. He was known for living a life of prayer, fasting, and manual labor in the garden. He is therefore known as the patron saint of gardeners. His feast day is celebrated on August 30th.
