Le site naturel de Punta di Spanu est divisé en trois parties : la partie centrale qui couvre la majeure partie de la pointe, une petite parcelle à l'extrême sud et l'îlot de Spano. Il est accessible par une piste et longé par la voie ferrée des Chemins de fer de Corse. Seule habitation du site, un restaurant situé à côté du parking terminal, est ouvert épisodiquement.
À l'ouest se trouve la baie d'Algajola et à l'est la marine de Sant'Ambroggio. Le site a failli être urbanisé, puisqu'une petite route et même un lotissement avaient commencé à être construits. Entretemps le conservatoire du littoral a acquis une bonne partie de la pointe, faisant alors démolir les logements commencés pour rendre au site son aspect initial.
Le site couvre 65 hectares. C'est une côte rocheuse formant un spectaculaire chaos de gros blocs de pierre, constituée de roches cristallines résistantes, balayée par les vents d'ouest dominants. La mer et les vents y ont sculpté les rochers, certains creusés de taffoni leur donnant des formes remarquables.
En saison, les criques sont très fréquentées par les touristes.

The natural site of Punta di Spanu is divided into three parts: the central part which covers most of the point, a small plot at the extreme south and the islet of Spano. It is accessible by a track and bordered by the railroad of the Chemins de fer de Corse. The only accommodation on the site, a restaurant located next to the terminal car park, is open from time to time.
To the west is the bay of Algajola and to the east the marine of Sant'Ambroggio. The site almost was urbanized, since a small road and even a housing estate had started to be built. Meanwhile the coastal conservatory has acquired a good part of the point, then demolishing the housing started to restore the site to its original appearance.
The site covers 65 hectares. It is a rocky coast forming a spectacular chaos of large blocks of stone, made up of resistant crystalline rocks, swept by the prevailing westerly winds. The sea and the winds have sculpted the rocks, some dug with taffoni giving them remarkable shapes.
In season, the coves are very frequented by tourists.
