Het waterschap Hollandse Delta zorgt ervoor dat er voldoende water in de sloten en singels zit, dus niet te veel en niet te weinig. Hierbij houden ze rekening met de functie van de sloten en singels. Een sloot die aan akkerland grenst, heeft bijvoorbeeld een andere waterhoogte nodig dan een sloot in een recreatie- of natuurgebied.
Hiertoe zijn diverse waterpeilmeters aangebracht.
Deze waterpeilmeter bevindt zich aan de Thoelaverweg.

The Hollandse Delta Water Board ensures there is sufficient water in the ditches and canals, so not too much and not too little. They take into account the function of the locks and webbing. For example, a ditch bordering arable land needs a different water level than a ditch in a recreation or nature area.
Various gauges have been installed for this purpose.
