This statue of St. Jude is located outside of Saint Julia Church on West Lake Road in Erie, Pennsylvania. The statue was given by Dana and Kathryn Payne in May 1961.

Saint Jude, also known as Thaddeus, was one of Christ's twelve apostles and author of an epistle included in the New Testament. He is believe to have been martyred with St. Simon in Lebanon. St. Jude is often depicted, as he is in this statue, with a flame on his head as a symbol of his receiving the Holy Ghost at Pentecost with the other apostles. St. Jude's feast day is celebrated on October 28th.
