The Göttingen Planet Path is a model of our solar system on a scale of 1: 2,000,000,000 (one meter in the model corresponds to 1,000,000 kilometers).
Along the path, which begins near the train station and runs through the whole city center up to the Bismarck Tower, a bronze stele with information on the respective object is set up for each planet at a true-to-scale distance. The planet itself is also shown to scale - so that some planets can only be seen as tiny spheres.
Jupiter can be seen here. It is the largest planet in our solar system. Due to its great attraction, it acts as the "vacuum cleaner of the solar system", which attracts many objects that could otherwise collide with the earth.

Visit Instructions:
To post a visit to a solar system model, please include at least one picture of the model, preferably from a different perspective from the other photos already taken. You and/or your GPS unit need not be in it. More photos are encouraged. Please also describe your visit in the log. If you cannot take a photo, then please describe your visit well enough so that readers can form a "mental picture".
