Leiro is a Spanish municipality belonging to the province of Orense and the Ribeiro region , in the autonomous community of Galicia . It is located on the banks of the Avia river .
The Ribeiro region is located between the Sierra del Faro and Suido , where the valleys of Miño , Avia , Arnoia and Barbantiño meet. It is defined between a series of valleys and surfaces that contrast with the surrounding highlands of around 312 km², of which it dedicates 3,000 hectares to the vineyard.

Surrounded by mountainous reliefs and sheltered from the oceanic influence, the cultivation of the vine is the dominant feature of the landscape, occupying almost all of the slopes and slings in the fields of Ribadavia , Castrelo de Miño , Cenlle, Beade, Leiro and Carballeda, as well as the better oriented and sunny slopes of the neighboring municipalities.
