This fifteen foot high granite obelisk can be found in front of Lochlee Kirk in the settlement of Invermark at the end of Glen Esk, the most easterly of the Angus Glens in the eastern highlands of Scotland.

The monument marks the graves of members of the Inglis family, including the Rev. David Inglis who erected the obelisk in the churchyard of the place of worship that he preached.

The obelisk is the most prominent memorial in the churchyard and stands immediately in front of the kirk to the south. It is surrounded by eight small replicas in a square shape which mark the grave. The north face which faces the kirk has an inscription which reads as follows:

'ERECTED BY THE REV. DAVID INGLIS
MINISTER AT LOCHLEE
IN MEMORY OF HIS MOTHER CHRISTIAN INGLIS
WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON THE 16th DAY OF JULY 1808
IN THE 73RD YEAR OF HER AGE
NOS OMNES METAM PROPERAMUS AD UNAM

THE DESCENDANTS OF HIS TWO SONS
DAVID INGLIS ESQ. OF THE BAILLIES, LOCHLEE
AND THE REV. ROBERT INGLIS M.A. OF EDZELL
IN LOVING MEMORY 1902
"HONOUR THY FATHER AND THY MOTHER"'

The eastern face reads as follows:

'IN MEMORY OF THE REV. DAVID INGLIS, LOCHLEE

The south face reads as follows:
