Texas History Website"The Smith Public Library is located in Wylie and was established in 1970 by Rita and Truett Smith. Since then, it has grown from a small space in a local bank building to a full-service library, providing story time programs, computer classes, book clubs, and special events."
The new library was completed in 2012. While the library, the recreation center, and the city hall are all separate building, they are connected on the north side by a curving serpentine facade of limestone.
The library is one-story and has 43,500 sq ft. It has protusion that are covered in gleaming stainless steel panels of blue and green giving it an iridescent glow.
