Ehrenmal des Infanterie-Regiments von Horn (IR29) - Rheinbrohl - Germany - RLP - Specific Veteran Memorials on Waymarking.com

This memorial is dedicated to the Infanterie Regiment 29 (IR 29). The Regiment was build in 1813 and lasts util 1918. The Regiment was also known by the name of the former commander von Horn as von-Horn-Regiment. In WW I about 3490 solders of this Regiment has died. Most of its member came from the Rhein-Provinz and in 1927 it was decided to build a memorial on a hill above Rheinbrohl.
The memorial is build in the style of a chapel. The form is following the spirit of the time by having straigth and clear line on the outside. Inside the building, scene from the Book of Revelation are shown and in the middle of the room a sarkopharg conatining a book with the names of the 3490 solders. This sarkopharg is representing the grave of the fallen solders in WW I.
The building is usually closed, but tables outside the building gives informations about the place.
