The Bisdom van Vliet house was commissioned by Paulina's father, Marcellus Bisdom van Vliet, who himself witnessed the completion of the house just before his death in 1877. He has not lived himself anymore; the first and the last residents were Paulina and her husband Johan Jacob le Fèvre de Montigny. As the last descendant, Paulina Bisdom van Vliet (1840-1923) to keep alive the memory of the three centuries old mayoral family Bisdom van Vliet. In her will she had it recorded that the house (built in 1877) should become a museum after her death, where everything should remain as it was during her lifetime. The 19th-century interior, rich in porcelain, silver and paintings, exudes the taste, style and lifestyle of this patrician family. In most rooms, men will see original carpeting, ceilings and wall coverings. In the backyard is a red beech, which was planted as a two-year tree in 16924 when Adriaan Bisdom settled in Haastrecht. When you visit the museum you will notice that time has stood still here.
The coach house belonging to the house was built in 1879. The high and wide drive-in doors are characteristic of the coach house. The coach house had a tack room. The stables were located behind the coach house.
