The present plain octagonal font, with its original wooden canopy cover, bears the inscription 'T.C.—W.C.—1662'.

The cover is made from oak and rather crudely carved. It consists of two tiers of balusters, the lower tier heavy hexagonal posts with leaf-like carvings. The upper tier are turned spindles supporting arches with a dog-tooth like decoration, above which is a plain hexagonal roof.

Surprisingly it is still raised by a chain, which I have been led to believe is quite costly in insurance fees.
