Torup Castle dates from the 16th century and is one of the Nordic region's best-preserved medieval castles.
There have been several owners of the castle over time. In 1864 Henriette Cederström (1859-1941) married Gustaf Coyet at Torup Castle. Both Henriette and Gustaf spent a lot of time restoring both the castle and the garden, and therefore the well has probably been made in that connection. On the edge of the well, something of an indistinct text can be read. Namely the name Henriette and the word well. On the well there are also reliefs with horses. The water tank is nicely decorated with duck heads. A wooden lid has been placed over the well and it is not possible to see if there is water in it.
Since 1970, Torup Castle with castle park and the surrounding beech forest has been owned by Malmö municipality. There is public access to the castle park.
