"Pendant deux jours, les 26 et 27 novembre 1770, des pluies incessantes s’abattent sur le centre de la France. Elles donnent lieu à d’importantes inondations. Sur l’Indre, la crue provoquent des dégâts importants. Les villes de Cormery, Loches et Montbazon sont chacune à moitié détruites. Les dégâts sont sévères : plus de 30 ponts effondrés, plus d’une centaine d’habitations détruites et au moins autant endommagées gravement. On dénombre au moins 50 morts.
