Tucker Connally was an avid biker who commuted between Colorado Springs and Monument, an often dangerous ride that required dodging traffic and riding over rickety old rail bridges. He was killed when the car in which he was riding went out of control and crashed. Today that ride would be on a series of contiguous bike trails, enabled in part by donations made in Tucker's name. This stone was set shortly after his death in 1990, and was recently restored. The text on the stone marker is
Tucker's Tie In
In appreciation of Tucker Connally, whose adventuresome spirit graced this land and helped to link these trail networks.
