A worn 14th century effigy in the south porch of St Peter & St Paul's church, Long Compton.

The badly worn tomb is a recumbent effigy of a woman, believed to have originally been located on the north aisle inside the church. The figure is wearing an ornate headdress and you can just make out a small dog resting at her feet. It was probably once the cover of a tomb.

There is a story, that the church avoids mentioning, that the figure is that of a witch, and it has been suggested that the animal at the figure's feet may be the witch's familiar: a cat or a fox.
