[EN] Myllybridge's bronze work of art, Kari-Petteri Kakko's (b.1976) Star Gazers, invites passers-by to stop and sit next to them. The sculpture ensemble, made for the seating stairs at the ends of the bridge, consists of four human figures staring at the sky from different ages, whose exaggerated anatomical forms borrow from the imagery of the drawing world. The work reminds of the importance of stopping for a moment. The teenage character in the Today sculpture sits in a lotus position with headphones on his ears, immersing himself in his own musical world. The statue is bronze and was completed in 2013.
[FIN] Myllysillan prosenttitaideteos, Kari-Petteri Kakon (s.1976) Tähtiin tähyävät, kutsuu ohikulkijat pysähtymään ja istahtamaan vierelleen. Sillan päätyjen istuskeluportaikkoihin valmistettu veistoskokonaisuus koostuu neljästä eri ikäkautta kuvaavasta taivaalle tähyävästä ihmishahmosta, joiden anatomialtaan liioitellut muodot lainaavat piirrosmaailman kuvakielestä. Teos muistuttaa hetkeen pysähtymisen merkityksestä. Tänään-veistoksen teini-ikäinen hahmo istuu lootusasennossa kuulokkeet korvilla omaan musiikilliseen maailmaansa syventyen. Patsas on pronssia ja se valmistui vuonna 2013.
