"Cette ancienne et large chapelle est placée sous la protection de Sainte Brigide, moniale irlandaise. Il est sis sur une colline dominant de 30 mètres la ville de Fosses-la-Ville
Les moines irlandais de Saint Feuillien construisent un petit sanctuaire en bois avec petit ermitage au cours du VIIe ou VIIIe siècle. Des reliques de Sainte-Brigide y sont déposées et vénérées. Brigide était une moniale irlandaise et fondatrice du monastère mixte de Kildare (Irlande), décédée en 525, dont le culte est très populaire dans le pays de Saint Feuillien.
Ce premier édifice en bois est remplacé par une chapelle en pierre au tournant du millénaire. Elle est pillée et détruite par les Huguenots en 1568 et restaurée un siècle plus tard (en 1659), par les chanoines de la collégiale de Fosses. On y adjoint alors une pièce ou deux qui permettent à un ermite d’y résider. On ne sait s’il y eut jamais un ermite à Sainte-Brigide."

"This ancient and wide chapel is placed under the protection of St. Brigid, an Irish nun. It is situated on a hill overlooking the town of Fosses-la-Ville by 30 metres.
The Irish monks of Saint Feuillien built a small wooden sanctuary with a small hermitage during the 7th or 8th century. Relics of St. Brigid are deposited and venerated there. Brigide was an Irish nun and founder of the mixed monastery of Kildare (Ireland), who died in 525. Her cult is very popular in the country of Saint Feuillien.
This first wooden building was replaced by a stone chapel at the turn of the millennium. It was looted and destroyed by the Huguenots in 1568 and restored a century later (in 1659) by the canons of the collegiate church of Fosses. One or two rooms were then added to it to allow a hermit to reside there. It is not known if there was ever a hermit at Sainte-Brigide."
