Po smierci króla Zygmunta Augusta z dynastii Jagiellonów zdecydowano, ze kolejni królowie beda wybierani przez szlachte w czasie elekcji. Pierwsza wolna elekcja odbyla sie na polach wsi Kamion (dzisiejsza Praga, obszar MSI Kamionek, na wschód od Parku Skaryszewskiego). Wszystkie pozostale, poza jedna, odbyly sie juz na Woli.

Pomnik ma postac prostej w formie, wolnostojacej kolumny, której granitowy trzon (bez bazy i glowicy) pochodzi z rozbiórki spalonego we wrzesniu 1939 roku palacu Kronenberga. Kolumne wienczy korona odlana z brazu. Na trzonie kolumny od strony zachodniej umieszczono plaskorzezbe, przedstawiajaca trzy postacie z obrazu Canaletta "Elekcja Stanislawa Augusta". Ponizej znajduje sie tablica z napisem:

After the death of King Sigismund Augustus of the Jagiellonian dynasty it was decided that the next kings would be elected by the nobility during the election. The first free election took place in the fields of Kamion village (Warsaw, Praga, MSI area: Kamionek, east of Skaryszewski Park). All others, except one, took place in Wola.

The monument has a form of simple, free-standing column, whose granite core (without base and head) comes from the demolition of Kronenberg Palace burned down in September 1939. The column is crowned with a crown cast in bronze. On the western side of the column there is a bas-relief depicting three figures from Canaletto's painting "Elekcja Stanislawa Augusta". Below there is a plaque with inscription:
