The forest of Fontainebleau is lined with paths that run through the rocky chaos, for hikers bivouacs are present along the route, these areas are free and allow you to spend the night.

"En vivant à Paris on a souvent envie de s’échapper de la vie à cent à l’heure et de la pollution pour retrouver un peu de nature. Je vais régulièrement à la montagne pour randonner ou chez mes parents à la campagne pour décompresser. Il n’y a pourtant pas besoin d’aller bien loin de Paris pour s’évader : la forêt de Fontainebleau est un terrain de jeu approprié pour les baladeurs, les randonneurs et les sportifs (escalade, trail…). On peut même y camper, pour un weekend au plus près de la nature.
La forêt de Fontainebleau est une forêt domaniale de plus de 20000 hectares, parsemée d’énormes rochers aux formes plus étranges les unes que les autres et aux reliefs sportifs, autrement dit un large terrain de jeu !
L’hiver dernier je découvrais la forêt de Fontainebleau en testant le parcours de randonnée des 25 bosses. Durant une journée avec des amies, nous avons sillonné la forêt en suivant les balisages. C’était alors le 30 décembre 2017, la forêt était calme, vide de promeneur mais emplie d’une lumière chaude et étonnamment de multiples couleurs. Les jaune et vert de la mousse me restent à l’esprit, ainsi que les gouttelettes de pluie brillantes qui ornaient ces tapis d’hiver : une splendeur. L’hiver, une bonne saison donc pour découvrir calmement la forêt de Fontainebleau.
J’y suis retournée cet été avec l’intention de camper en forêt de Fontainbleau. Il a fallu pour cela bien se renseigner.

BIVOUAQUER EN FORÊT DE FONTAINEBLEAU
Cet été, pour approfondir la découverte des chemins de forêt, j’ai organisé avec quelques amis, un bivouac en forêt de Fontainebleau pour le simple plaisir de poser la tente au coeur de la forêt et de passer du bon temps ensemble.
La forêt de Fontainebleau est relativement protégée et il n’est donc pas autorisé d’y établir un camping pour la nuit à quelques exceptions près.
Rappelons d’abord la différence entre le camping sauvage et le bivouac :
? le camping sauvage revient à installer un camp n’importe où pour y passer une journée ou plus, sans demander d’autorisation à personne. En gros, ça revient à s’installer comme bon te semble sans te poser de question : bof !
? le bivouac en revanche c’est poser sa tente pour la nuit en respectant à peu près ces horaires 18h-9h et à filer avant que la journée ne soit trop entamée. Dans ce cas on est discret, on veille à ne pas déranger, ne pas s’installer sur un terrain privé sans aval du propriétaire etc.
En forêt de Fontainebleau, le camping sauvage est totalement interdit tandis que le bivouac est toléré à certains endroits.
Quelques règles à en surtout pas oublier en camping ou bivouac : on ne laisse pas trace de son passage ! Aucun déchet derrière soi, ni même son PQ que l’on ramasse et que l’on jette. Pour cela, n’hésite pas à toujours embarqué dans ton sac à dos des sacs poubelle.

OÙ CAMPER EN FORÊT DE FONTAINEBLEAU ?
Il y a seulement deux spots de bivouac autorisés pour passer la nuit en forêt de Fontainebleau. Il m’a été un peu difficile de les identifier clairement en cherchant l’info sur Internet mais je les ai bien trouvé ! Il n’y a donc rien d’inédit dans cette info mais je me permet de la remettre par ici, au clair et avec mon avis perso.
? Emplacement de bivouac de la maison forestière de Bois-le-Roi
On peut se garer sur le parking de la maison forestière de Bois-le-Roi. Le terrain autorisé pour le bivouac se situe en face, il font donc traverser prudemment la route.Coordonnées GPS à pouvoir entrer dans votre application Google Maps ou autre : 48°27’26.9?N 2°42’00.0?E
Là un petit point d’eau est disponible, il faut pomper un peu pour laisser l’eau salle filer avant d’obtenir de l’eau claire. Je recommande toutefois vivement de prévoir un pack d’eau pour éviter d’avoir à utiliser ce mince filet d’eau relativement moyen.
En s’enfonçant un peu en face dans la forêt il y a une petite tableau de pique-nique, plus trop en état. Par contre, sur la gauche se trouve une minuscule clairière entre les arbres, parfaite pour un emplacement de tente agréable, avec une table, en bon état cette fois (ce sont les images de l’article).
La route n’est pas très loin mais cachée par les arbres et j’ai apprécié ce spot au milieu des arbres. La nuit tombée nous avons eu la visite de sangliers autour des tentes. Pas de panique, ils sont curieux mais inoffensifs s’ils ne se sentent pas attaqués. Mieux vaut rester à dormir dans sa tente que s’inquiéter. Idéalement, il vaut mieux garder la nourriture bien enfermée et en hauteur sur la table à pique-nique pour éviter les fouilles de ces animaux gourmands.
Toute proche du camping, une dizaine de minutes environ, nous avons apprécié la base de loisirs gratuite de Bois-Le-Roi. Il y a du monde en plein été mais quand il fait chaud, qui refuserait une baignade et une sieste sur l’herbe ?
? La deuxième zone de bivouac autorisée en forêt de Fontainebleau se situe proche du parking de la Grande Vallée sur la commune de Bourron-Marlotte.

Je n’ai pas eu l’occasion de la tester. D’après les infos que j’avais trouvé, l’emplacement dispose d’un point d’eau et de toilettes. Je conseille toutefois de toujours avoir de l’eau sur soi car j’ai eu plusieurs fois la malchance de tomber sur des pompes cassées. Mieux vaut être prévoyant donc.

Reste la solution des campings officiels autour de la forêt de Fontainebleau.
Il y en a plusieurs dans la région, il suffit de chercher en fonction de la localisation souhaitée.
QUEL MATÉRIEL POUR CAMPER EN FORÊT DE FONTAINEBLEAU ?
Disons le nous, ce n’est pas le camping le plus roots que tu feras. Mais c’est très agréable lorsqu’on ne veut / peut pas aller trop loin de Paris. Et puis pour un test, un premier bivouac ou une aventure en famille ça peut être hyper sympa. Comme c’est accessible en voiture, il n’y a pas non plus trop besoin de prévoir du matériel pro ou de transporter ses vivres sur des kilomètres. Cette fois j’avais emmené :
? Une tente, un duvet, un matelas ou tapis de sol
J’ai emmené ma tente deux places ultralight de la marque d’équipements outdoor Campz, hyper simple à monter que j’aime beaucoup.
Ce qui est vraiment appréciable ce sont son poids, inférieur à 2K (1950 g), et ses dimensions pratiques pour le transport, surtout lors de randonnée ou trek où il faut la porter. Et puis il y a deux ouvertures latérales pour accéder facilement à son couchage lorsqu’on est deux.
? Une glacière pour conserver de la nourriture fraîche préparée à l’avance, comme des quiches pas exemple.
? Un pack d’eau en prévision du point d’eau peu fiable sur place
? Du PQ, à ne jamais oublier (mais à ne pas abandonner stp !)
? Des sacs poubelle (pour jeter l’ensemble de tes déchets, y compris le PQ pardi !)
? Une lampe frontale, toujours extrêmement pratique une fois la nuit tombée.

"Living in Paris, we often want to escape from life at a hundred miles an hour and from pollution to find a bit of nature. I regularly go to the mountains to hike or to my parents' house in the country to relax. However, you don't have to go far from Paris to get away from it all: the Fontainebleau forest is an appropriate playground for walkers, hikers and sportsmen (climbing, trail...). You can even camp there, for a weekend close to nature.
The forest of Fontainebleau is a state-owned forest of more than 20,000 hectares, dotted with enormous rocks, each one stranger than the next, with sporty reliefs, in other words a large playground!
Last winter I discovered the Fontainebleau forest by testing the 25 moguls hiking trail. During one day with friends, we went through the forest following the markings. It was then December 30, 2017, the forest was calm, empty of walkers but filled with a warm light and surprisingly multiple colors. The yellow and green of the moss remains in my mind, as well as the brilliant rain droplets that adorned these winter carpets: a splendor. Winter, a good season to discover the forest of Fontainebleau calmly.
I went back there this summer with the intention of camping in the forest of Fontainbleau. It was necessary for that to be well informed.

BIVOUAC IN FONTAINEBLEAU FOREST
This summer, to deepen the discovery of the forest paths, I organized with a few friends, a bivouac in the forest of Fontainebleau for the simple pleasure of putting the tent in the heart of the forest and spend a good time together.
The forest of Fontainebleau is relatively protected and it is therefore not allowed to set up a campsite for the night there, with a few exceptions.
First of all, let's remember the difference between wild camping and bivouac :
? wilderness camping is like setting up a camp anywhere to spend a day or more without asking permission from anyone. Basically, it's like setting up camp as you see fit without asking any questions: bof!
? the bivouac on the other hand is to set up your tent for the night by respecting these schedules 18h-9h and to leave before the day is too early. In this case we are discreet, we take care not to disturb, not to settle on a private ground without the owner's approval etc...
In the forest of Fontainebleau, wild camping is totally forbidden while bivouac is tolerated in some places.
A few rules to remember when camping or bivouacking: do not leave any trace of your passage! No garbage behind you, nor even your PQ that you pick up and throw away. For that, do not hesitate to always embark in your backpack garbage bags.

WHERE TO CAMP IN THE FONTAINEBLEAU FOREST?
There are only two bivouac spots authorized to spend the night in Fontainebleau forest. It was a bit difficult to identify them clearly while looking for information on the Internet but I found them well! So there is nothing new in this information but I allow myself to give it here, clearly and with my personal opinion.
? Location of the bivouac of the forest house of Bois-le-Roi
You can park on the parking lot of the forest house of Bois-le-Roi. The land authorized for the bivouac is located opposite, so they make you cross the road carefully.GPS coordinates to be able to enter in your Google Maps application or other: 48°27'26.9?N 2°42'00.0?E
There a small water point is available, it is necessary to pump a little to let the water room run before getting clear water. However, I strongly recommend that you have a water pack to avoid having to use this thin stream of relatively medium water.
Going a little further into the forest, there is a small picnic table, no longer in good condition. On the left, on the other hand, there is a tiny clearing between the trees, perfect for a nice tent site, with a table, in good condition this time (these are the pictures of the article).
The road is not very far but hidden by the trees and I enjoyed this spot in the middle of the trees. At nightfall we had the visit of wild boars around the tents. Don't panic, they are curious but harmless if they don't feel attacked. It is better to sleep in your tent than to worry. Ideally, it is better to keep the food well locked up and high on the picnic table to avoid the search of these greedy animals.
Very close to the campground, about ten minutes away, we enjoyed the free leisure center of Bois-Le-Roi. It is crowded in the middle of summer but when it is hot, who would refuse a swim and a nap on the grass?
? The second authorized bivouac zone in the Fontainebleau forest is located near the Grande Vallée parking lot in the commune of Bourron-Marlotte.

I haven't had the opportunity to test it. According to the information I had found, the site has a water point and toilets. However, I advise to always carry water as I have been unlucky enough to fall on broken pumps several times. So it is better to be far-sighted.

There are several in the region, just search according to the desired location.
WHAT EQUIPMENT TO CAMP IN THE FONTAINEBLEAU FOREST ?
Let's say it to us, it is not the most roots camping you will do. But it's very pleasant when you don't want / can't go too far from Paris. And then for a test, a first bivouac or a family adventure it can be very nice. As it's accessible by car, there's not too much need to bring professional equipment or to carry your food for miles. This time I had taken :
? A tent, a comforter, a mattress or a floor mat.
I brought my two-seater ultralight tent from the outdoor equipment brand Campz, which is very easy to set up and I like it very much.
What I really like is its weight, less than 2K (1950 g), and its practical dimensions for transport, especially when hiking or trekking where it has to be carried. And then there are two side openings for easy access to the bed when there are two of us.
? A cooler to keep fresh food prepared in advance, such as quiches for example.
? A water pack in anticipation of the unreliable water point on the spot.
? PQ, never forget (but please don't give up!)
? Garbage bags (to throw out all your garbage, including the PQ for sure!)
? A headlamp, always extremely handy once night falls.
