Op 7 november 2019 opende restaurant Whakamarie haar deuren en vanaf morgen draaien ze op volle sterkte. Wat je hier kan eten? Gerechten uit Midden- en Zuid-Amerika, gecombineerd met Japanse en Koreaanse invloeden.
Naast dat het interieur een lik verf heeft gekregen, is dit restaurant ook een stuk groter dan haar voorganger. Dat komt omdat de snackbar op de FC Donderstraat bij het nieuwe restaurant getrokken wordt. In het voorste deel (voorheen De Kust) zie je veel groene en oranje tinten zoals in een Mexicaanse cantina. Het achterste deel (voorheen de snackbar) geeft je meer het gevoel van een Japanse pub; een Izakaya.
In de ochtend kun je smullen van een breakfast burrito, een gezonde smoothiebowl, okonomiyaki (Japanse pannenkoek) met dancing tuna of koffie uit Peru van Utrechtse koffiebrander Keen. Later op de dag kun je terecht voor verse ceviche, Japanse bbq, silken tofu met kimchi of een taco met softshell crab, in combinatie met cocktails op basis van sake en mezcal, een grote (Japanse en Zuid-Amerikaanse) bierselectie en fijne wijnen.

Restaurant Whakamarie opened its doors on 7 November 2019 and they will be running at full strength from tomorrow. What can you eat here? Dishes from Central and South America, combined with Japanese and Korean influences.
Besides that the interior has been given a lick of paint, this restaurant is also a lot bigger than its predecessor. That is because the snack bar on FC Donderstraat is being added to the new restaurant. In the front part (formerly De Kust) you can see many green and orange tones, like in a Mexican cantina. The back part (formerly the snack bar) gives you the feeling of a Japanese pub; an Izakaya.
In the morning you can enjoy a breakfast burrito, a healthy smoothie bowl, okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) with dancing tuna or coffee from Peru from Utrecht coffee roaster Keen. Later in the day you can enjoy fresh ceviche, Japanese bbq, silken tofu with kimchi or a taco with soft shell crab, in combination with cocktails based on sake and mezcal, a large (Japanese and South American) beer selection and fine wines.
