Sinds september 2018 staat er een nieuw kunstobject in de vorm van een grote bank in het Park Voorveldse Polder. Dit kunstwerk aan het begin van het Lo Bruntpad is officieel ingewijd op woensdag 10 oktober door Linda Voortman, sinds kort de wijkwethouder van Utrecht Noord Oost.

De bank is ontworpen door beeldend kunstenaar Tomasz Vetulani, die ook de Eendenbrug bij de Huizingalaan heeft gemaakt. De Stichting Voorveldse Polder heeft Tomasz gevraagd om een kunstobject te maken en daarin een gedicht van Fred Penninga te verwerken. Dit gedicht is gemaakt in 2014 bij de opening van de
Noordzoom, het gebied dat grenst aan de Biltse Rading.

Na een lang proces van schetsontwerpen en maquettes is het idee van een bank ontstaan. Tomasz heeft voorgesteld om het kunstwerk dan ook ‘De Gedichtenbank’ te noemen. Hierin zijn naast een fragment van het gedicht ook veel vogels verwerkt. Een mooi symbool voor het park.

Met de werktekening is het staalbedrijf `De Wilde Metaal BV’ aan de slag gegaan. Het was voor dit grote metaalbedrijf een leuke en
uitdagende opdracht. Het object is uitgevoerd in massief dik staal, dat bestand is tegen alle weersomstandigheden
De tekst van het gedicht en de vogels zijn met een laserstraal uitgestraald.
