Some locals called it "Rattlesnake Cave" because of shed snake skins seen in the rocky entrance (species of snake not known). The room-like cavern has a flat sandy floor. It is part of a lava tube with one sloped wall made of porous rock, through which air movement can be sufficient to cause a candle flame to flicker wildly.
