Concordia's description of the Gold level LEED Integrated Science Center is;
Sustainability has been a key consideration throughout the building design process. We are proud to have received LEED Gold certification for the renovation of this Facility. 90% of demolition material was recycle[d] post-build.
Among the sustainable features:
Plant hear recovery system
Automated control of heating/cooling and lighting
Sophisticated fume hood controls
LED lighting
Pollinator garden
Prairie grasses and native perennial in landscaping
Roof-top solar array
Storm water retention system
EYP Architecture and Foss Architecture worked with Concordia to redesign the Ivers (1966) and Jones (1980) science buildings.
