A black granite monument to honor those who lost their lives or were wounded in combat in any war.
This, and other memorials, are located at the Cape Coral Veterans Memorial Park, at Four Mile Ecological Park, on Veterans Memorial Highway just west of the Midpoint Bridge (beware, Midpoint is a toll bridge). Four Mile Eco has a nice boardwalk thru the mangroves, if the biting flies don't get you first. Between the eco park and the highway, the City of Cape Coral has installed a growing number of memorials to military veterans. The park also includes an Iwo Jima Monument — a one-third-scale replica of the original Marine Corps War Memorial near Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia — memorials and flags to the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars, Gulf War, Vietnam War, Korean War and World War II; a Gold Star Mothers Memorial; and commemorations for Disabled American Veterans, American POWs, U.S. Jewish War Veterans, all branches of service and other military groups.
