Korkealla jugend-talon katolla oleva kanteleen muotoinen tuuliviiri. Rakennus on Vartiovuorenmäen vieressä kaskenkadulla.

Kantele on vanha suomalainen perinnesoitin. Se on myös Suomen kansallissoitin. Kanteleen historia ulottuu ainakin tuhannen vuoden taakse, ehkä paljon kauemmaskin.

A kantele-shaped weather vane on the high roof of an Art Nouveau house. Hjorten was completed in 1904 and in the pictures from 1905 the weathervane is already visible. Apparently it has been on the roof of the house since its construction. The building is next to Vartiovuorenmäki on Kaskenkatu.
This weathervane has N, S, E, W direction indicaded on lower part of pole by 4 markers. Direction of wind can be seen from rounded pointed part of Kantele. This is quite unusual weathervane, possibly design is one and only. It's more common to have flag-type weathervane with construction year of building or church. Never seen before with Kantele-design.

Kantele is an old Finnish traditional instrument with set of strings. It is also Finland's national instrument. The history of the kantele goes back at least a thousand years, perhaps even much further. In Finnish folk poetry, the kantele is Väinämöinen's instrument, and it has a prominent position in the 19th-century Kalevala epic. The kantele was a popular and symbolically important instrument for Finns until the beginning of the 20th century. Thereafter, its popularity waned until, in the 1970s, its position was actively improved. Today, kantele playing and building have revived, and kantele playing can be studied at the University of the Arts Helsinki, for example.
