Von hieraus führt ein Waldweg im schattigen Hochwald gemächlich abwärts durch das Ruppental, dann durchs Eiterbachtal mit munter plätscherndem Bach. Am Eiterbachweiher laden Schutzhütte und Bänke zum Verweilen ein. Mäßig bergan geht es zur Luisenplatzhütte mit feinem Panoramablick über Mayen, das Maifeld und Richtung Rhein.
Der weitere Wanderweg führt zur Schutzhütte Altener Tempelchen mit Blick auf die mächtigen Basaltsäulen des gegenüber liegenden Steinbruchs. Über Pfade geht es stetig bergan zum Fünfkantstein (hist. Wegemarke, mit Schutzhütte). Abwärts bieten sich großartige Ausblicke auf Schloss Bürresheim und das Nettetal. Direkt an der Nette angelangt, geht es nach kurzer Passage entlang der L83 zur historischen Hammesmühle und weiter am Netteufer und bis zum Nitztal. Auf den Aufstieg auf dem Rücken eines Felskammes folgt eine Waldpassage durch Eichenniederwald zum Schälkopf mit schönem Blick auf Nitztal.
Ein Serpentinenpfad windet sich aufwärts nach Kürrenberg. Am Waldrand entlang geht es vorbei an Pferdekoppeln und Wiesen zum Scheidkopf – der Beginn des abschließenden Panoramafestivals der Ganztagestour mit weiten Ausblicken über die Eifellandschaft!"
