Fiskepassagen Saabyes Stryg går forbi sluseporten i Munkemose midt i Odense. Passagen tillader ynglende laksefisk at komme længere op i åen for at gyde.

English: The fishing passage Saabyes Stryg passes the lock gate in Munkemose in the middle of Odense. The total length of the passage is about 120 meters and there is a drop of about 2-3 meters on the stretch. The passage allows breeding salmonids to get further up the creek to spawn.

The strike was inaugurated in 2008 by Councilor Anker Boye.

- It is for the benefit of both fish and citizens. Odense has now got another recreational area, which opens up beautifully towards the city, he said during the opening.

In addition to a much more exciting approach to the river, Fiskestryget also provides far better breeding and rearing conditions for both sea trout and more rare creatures such as the sea lamprey, the porcupine and the swamp snail.

Saabye's Stryg is the official name, named after the Funen painter and angling enthusiast Svend Saabye, who died in 2004.

The ironing has cost 15 million kroner and is financed roughly fifty-fifty by Odense Municipality and the Forest and Nature Agency. In addition, Sea Trout Funen, the anglers and the Svend Saabye Committee have contributed.
