This painted fiberglass sculpture, 22 feet high, 17 feet wide, and weighing in at 5000 pounds, depicts a tom turkey with wings touching the ground and tail feathers raised and fanned. Called "Big Tom," it is on display in Lions Park in Frazee, Minnesota. Like some other "monstrosities," this enormous turkey was created by artist Dave Oswald of DWO, Sparta, Wisconsin. The sculpture was dedicated in September 1998.
The current reigning Largest Turkey in the World actually replaced an earlier, smaller World's Largest Turkey in Frazee that was "only" 16 feet tall. The earlier turkey on this spot tragically perished in a fire. The is also a "Little Tom" sculpture in Frazee, still larger than your average gobbler.
