Tuzigoot is a Sinaguan pubelo located on a rock outcropping beside the Verde River in central Arizona. The pueblo dates to the period from 1050 AD to 1399 AD when the population left the area. Excavation of the site began in 1935 and the museum and visitor center was constructed between 1935 and 1936. Construction is of native stone to mimic and complement the style of the pueblo. It is situated lower than the pueblo as to not diminish the visual impact of the pueblo. An original New Deal building and still used for its intended purpose. Alterations have been made to accommodate changes in the use of the building but it retains its original character.
