CZ: Modlitebna evangelické církve metodistické na jihozápade mesta Slaný. Funkcionalistický dum byl postavený podle projektu architekta Josefa Blechy, za metodistickou církev ho odsouhlasil k realizaci Davis Percival Melson. Podle návrhu Josefa Blechy byla v r. 1927 vystavena i modlitebna metodistu v Plzni. Stavbu realizoval slánský stavitel Vilibald Hieke. Modlitebna byla slavnostne otevrena v cervenci 1929. - Jednoduchá stavba bez dekoru, s kancelárí a bytem pro kazatele. V prucelí je zasazena pametní deska, za kterou je uložena prst z Kostnice, v patre reliéf se symbolem kalicha a otevrené knihy Písma svatého. - Budova slouží svému úcelu doposud. (visit link)

Evangelická církev metodistická (angl. The United Methodist Church) je svetovou církví, která vzešla z probuzeneckého hnutí 18. století uvnitr tehdy již reformací zasažené Anglikánské církve. Metodistické hnutí jako hnutí evangelijní, svátostné a sociální se v prubehu dvou staletí šírilo po celém svete a podnítilo postupne vznik více církví. V roce 1939 se spojily severní Metodistická episkopální církev (angl. The Methodist Episcopal Church), Metodistická episkopální církev jižní (angl. The Methodist Episcopal Church, South) a Metodistická protestantská církev (angl. The Methodist Protestant Church) v jednu Metodistickou církev (angl. The Methodist Church). Ta se pak v roce 1968 spojila se Spojenou evangelickou bratrskou církví (angl. Evangelical United Brethren Church).

Evangelická církev metodistická nemá vlastní konfesi. Základní normou víry a života z víry je Písmo vykládané s použitím tradice, rozumu a zkušenosti. Vudcím hlediskem organizace církve nejsou správní pravomoci, ale odstupnovaná odpovednost za spolecnou službu a svedectví. Odstupnovaná odpovednost našla svuj výraz v tzv. konferencích: farních, výrocních, centrálních (v cele s volenými biskupy) a generální. Na všech typech konferencí je dusledne zachovávaná parita duchovenských a laických clenu. Základním telesem církve je Výrocní konference (ordinovaní duchovní a volení laici z jednotlivých farností). Princip konexionalismu (propojení) stojí na spolecné tradici víry (zahrnuje mj. clánky víry, Základy nauky a Všeobecná pravidla Johna Wesley), je deklarován v Ústave, spolecným posláním a spolecným základním etickým postojem (tzv. Sociální zásady a Sociální vyznání). Všechny tyto dokumenty a zásady jsou formulovány v Rádu církve (angl. The Book of Discipline). Bohoslužebné propojení Evangelické církve metodistické se realizuje prostrednictvím spolecných liturgických formuláru (angl. The Book of Worship).

EN: Prayer room of the Evangelical Methodist Church in the southwest of the town of Slaný. The functionalist house was built according to the project of the architect Josef Blecha, for the Methodist church it was approved for realization by Davis Percival Melson. According to a design by Josef Blecha, a Methodist prayer house in Pilsen was exhibited in 1927. The construction was carried out by the Slaný builder Vilibald Hieke. The prayer room was inaugurated in July 1929. - A simple building without decor, with an office and an apartment for preachers. In the facade there is a memorial plaque, behind which is placed a finger from Constance, on the first floor there is a relief with a symbol of a chalice and an open book of the Holy Scriptures. - The building serves its purpose until now.

The United Methodist Church is a worldwide institution, which rose up from revival movement in 18th century within Anglican Church, already in those days touched by reformation. The Methodist movement as an evangelical, sacramental and social movement spread throughout the entire world for two centuries and little by little stimulated foundation of many churches. In the year 1939 were united the northern Methodist Episcopal Church with the southern Methodist Episcopal Church and the Methodist Protestant Church in one Methodist Church. This Church then in the year 1968 was united with Evangelical United Brethren Church and so our United Methodist Church rose up in contemporary form.

The United Methodist Church has not its own confession. The fundamental rule of faith and life is Scripture, interpreted within tradition, reason and experience. The central principle of church organization are not administrative powers, but graded responsibility for common ministry and gospel testimony. The graded responsibility founded its form in so called conferences: Parish, Annual, Central (with elected bishops as chairmen) and General Conferences. At all types of conferences is kept strict the parity of laymen and clergy. The base body of the Church is the Annual Conference (ordained clergy and elected laymen from individual parishes). The principle of connectionalism is based on common tradition of faith (it includes i.a. Articles of Religion, Elements of Discipline and General Rules of John Wesley), it is declared in the Constitution by common mission and common basic ethic position (so called Social Standards and Social Confessions) . All these documents and standards are formulated in the Book of Discipline. The worship connectivity of the United Methodist Church is provided through the Book of Worship.
