[F] Ce pigeonnier cylindrique se trouve à l'extérieur du château de Boussay.
On sait que la population rurale française a atteint son apogée au milieu du 19ème siècle avant de décroître ensuite inexorablement.
La commune de Boussay fut hélas avant-gardiste en la matière puisque le nombre de ses habitants commença à diminuer dès la fin des années 1830.
En 150 ans Bossay a vu le nombre de ses citoyens divisé par 4 et au dernier recensement de 2015, le village ne comptait plus que 250 âmes. Avec 9,1 habitants au km2, la commune a ainsi de nos jours la même densité de population que le Niger.

Si vous avez de la chance, vous rencontrerez peut-être un des membres de la famille de Becdelièvre descendants en droite ligne de la famille de Menou propriétaire du château depuis le XIème siècle !
Vous en découvrirez quelques-uns parlant avec passion du domaine qu'ils entretiennent de génération en génération dans ce court reportage réalisé par une des membres de la famille aujourd'hui journaliste.

[E] This cylindrical dovecote is located outside the Château de Boussay.
We know that the French rural population reached its peak in the middle of the 19th century before then declining inexorably.
The commune of Boussay was unfortunately avant-garde in this area since the number of its inhabitants began to decrease from the end of the 1830s.
In 150 years Bossay has seen the number of its citizens divided by 4 and at the last census in 2015, the village numbered only 250 souls. With 9.1 inhabitants per km2, the town now has the same population density as Niger.

If you are lucky, you might meet one of the members of the Becdelièvre family who are direct descendants of the Menou family who have owned the château since the 11th century!
