Met haar slanke, asymmetrische dek en 18 m hoge pyloon vormt de nieuwe fiets- en voetgangersbrug over het Rijn-Schiekanaal in Rijswijk een ware blikvanger. De strakke afwerking van het staalwerk draagt hier zeker ook aan bij. De brug heet de Oversteek en is gebouwd in 2014.

De gemeente Rijswijk wilde een fiets- en voetgangersbrug over het Rijn-Schiekanaal. Dit kanaal vormde een fikse barrière voor langzaam verkeer dat van de ene naar de andere kant van Rijswijk wilde reizen. Een uitgebreide variantenstudie leidde tot de uiteindelijke locatie en het brugtype. De draaibare pyloonbrug maakt het fietsers en voetgangers gemakkelijk de Schie over te steken en biedt de scheepvaart een bijzonder brede doorvaart. Bovendien is het een nieuw landmark voor de stad.

De brug met overspanning van 35 m bestaat uit een asymmetrisch geplaatste stalen pyloon, een beweegbaar stalen dek en 12 stalen tuien die beide met elkaar verbinden. De brug kostte ongeveer 2,4 miljoen om te maken.

With its slender, asymmetrical deck and 18 m high pylon, the new bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Rijn-Schie Canal in Rijswijk is a real eye-catcher. The sleek finish of the steelwork certainly also contributes to this. The bridge is called the Oversteek and was built in 2014.

The municipality of Rijswijk wanted a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Rhine-Schie Canal. This canal formed a significant barrier to slow traffic that wanted to travel from one side of Rijswijk to the other. An extensive variant study led to the final location and bridge type. The revolving pylon bridge makes it easy for cyclists and pedestrians to cross the Schie and offers shipping a particularly wide passage. It is also a new landmark for the city.

The bridge with a span of 35 m consists of an asymmetrically placed steel pylon, a movable steel deck and 12 steel cables taking the load of the bridge deck. The costs of the bridge were about 2,4 million euros.
