Originally opened in 1931 as Bill and Bess's Place, a tourist court with a dance hall and six log cabins. The name was changed to John's Modern Cabins after John and Lilliam Dausch purchased the property in 1951. A 1957 widening project of Route 66 caused the court to be moved back from the road and the dance hall was lost at this point. More land was lost to the I-44 Interstate project and the property was abandoned after the death of John Dausch in 1971.
