The ETZ (Elisabeth-TweeSteden Hospital) is a clinical training hospital and trauma center. With two locations in Tilburg and one Waalwijk, ETZ is the hospital for all residents of the Central Brabant region.
The hospital was created by a merger of the TweeSteden Hospital and the Sint Elisabeth Hospital.
Due to the problems in the health care sector in the Netherlands, the TweeSteden Hospital and the St. Elisabeth Hospital decided to merge. This merger was approved by the authorities on November 2, 2012. The branches wouldremain open, but some specialties will be concentrated per location; neurology at St. Elisabeth and cardiology at Twee Steden. Due to the increase in scale that this merger entailed as well as through agreements within the regional oncology network "Embraze", the ETZ became one of the largest centers for gastrointestinal surgery in the Netherlands
