Built in 1943, the motel originally had two units, but eight more were added in 1948. It was bypassed in the early 50's when Route 66 became a four lane highway and was realigned behind the motel. When the four lane became I-44 a motel sign was moved to face the new highway, although the neon sign still exists on the property facing the original roadbed.
