The Major Theatre was built by C. A. Swiercinsky in 1921. The theater was air-conditioned and fully equipped with all the latest devices for motion pictures. The electrical and neon marquee and display were also of the very latest type. The Theater burned down in the 1980s and the now empty lot is a fine garden. The site hosts a Farmer's Market every Thursday evening.
