At one time, there were nearly twenty Sonny Bryan's locations in Texas and oddly enough, Utah. Today, thanks to the pandemic, only three survive: The original in Dallas, the location on Lovers Lane, and this one.

Sonny Bryan's serves up what we call "plate barbecue", and you can have up to three choices to go with your two sides and roll: Brisket (chopped/sliced), sausage (regular, jalapeño, and cheddar jalapeño), turkey, ham, pork ribs, pulled pork, and pulled chicken. They have a nice selection of sides, including the classic cole slaw and potato salad, and they proclaim their onion rings as "world famous." Rib plates, sandwich plates, baked potatoes, Frito pie, wings, and even salads with your choice of protein are other options, and they have soft drinks and iced tea. If you plan to have room left, they have cookies and cobbler for dessert, sometimes a cobbler flavor you won't see on the menu, so check the board by the register. There are also a few family packs of varying quantities that can feed anywhere from four to eight people.

For those familiar with how they do things down in the Hill Country, fear not: You can also order your meats by the pound, your sides à la carte or in bulk, and even quantities of rolls.
