MADONNA OF THE TRAIL MISSOURI
This Madonna of the Trail Monument Originally Located at the intersection of Main Street and (former National Old Trails Road)and Jacks Ford Road.
Now sits in the North east corner of Highland and Cliff Drive.
This monument is not located on the I-40 corridor but a little north in Lexington,west of Boonville.
Dedicated September 17,1928 by Keynote Speaker Harry S. Truman,President of the Old National Trails Association.
This Monument to the Mothers of the Covered Wagon days reminds us of whence we came. The turmoils and troubles Today are nothing like the those these women endured along the trail. The way west was blazed right past this very spot. We can now journey along to visit the history of their passing and ours this way along the National Old Trails Road of life.
