The Ten Commandments (and other text) is etched into this stone marker at the southeast corner of the Donley County Courthouse in Clarendon. The top of the white marker is styled as an open book. The text on the top of the marker is:
I: Thou shalt have no other gods before Me
II: Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image
III: Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain
IV: Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy
V: Honour thy father and thy mother
VI: Thou shalt not kill
VII: Thou shalt not commit adultery
VIII: Thou shalt not steal
IX: Thou shalt not bear false witness
X: Thou shalt not covet
Exodus 20: 1-17
The four sides of the marker also contain text, mostly quotes from historical figures and short mottos. Markers like this are often found at Texas courthouses.
