Great Down Park is owned by Bursledon Parish Council. For several years one side of the park has been maintained as a wildflower meadow. This year (2021) more of the park has been left uncut to encourage wildflowers and insects.

Around the edge of the path is the 'Paws Walk' a loop aimed at use by dog walkers. There are also wide paths cut across and around the meadow area.
