Location of marker: N. 1st St., just S. of Sears St., on Happy Lil Glass Pieces wall

Historic Marker next to Mural:

MURAL
  • From newspaper articles it is estimated that this Parade most likely occurred in the year "1911"
  • Location: On South end of Main street near where Catholic church now stands.
  • Owensville was built in the middle of a Prairie, thus you see the remnants of prairie grasses
   and forbes.
  • The Large Red Round building to your far left was the old College, which was torn down around
   1920. A 2 year degree after 8th grade No high school back then. Building stood where
   Baptist church now stands.
  • Gray home next to college still stands today. Roof top can be seen from here ~ 3rd building
   from 4-way stop or rt.
  • It is unknown who the two officials are on horseback near the end of the Parade.
