Rotary Park Playground
Rotary Park is near Charlie Lake and the wetlands. There is a network of Wetland Trails throughout the park. The playground has easy access from the nearby parking area.
This is a large playground that will entertain young children. Swings, jungle gyms and small spring riding toys, to bounce and rock. There are three slides and sets of bars and rings. Overall the equipment is in good condition and you can almost hear the children laughing and squealing with joy.
Charlie Lake in is Peace Country known for its Prairie, the Boreal Forest, the Rocky Mountains and the Peace River, one of the longest river systems in Canada. Charlie Lake is a small community with less than 2,000 residents. The lake itself is only 23 feet deep and about 9.5 miles long. On May 14, 1942, a US Corp of Engineers Pontoon Barge overturned at Charlie Lake, a memorial was placed in honor of the 12 soldiers who tragically lost their lives.
Charlie Lake is Mile 52 of the Alaska Highway completed in 1943. Charlies Lake was a major distribution point for workers and building materials. Now it is a recreational haven offering Provincial Parks, campgrounds, hiking trails, bird and wildlife viewing and great fishing.
