The Natura Extensa sculpture is located in the Nyenhuis Sculpture Garden on the campus of Hope College in Holland, Michigan. The bronze sculpture was created by Peter Chinni.

About Peter Chinni and Natura Extensa:
The son of Italian immigrants, Peter Chinni studied painting and printmaking at the Art Students League in New York in the late 1940s before earning a scholarship to attend the Academia di Belli Arti in Rome. Chinni first began making sculptures in 1957 and three-dimensional work soon became an important part of his overall artistic practice. Natura Extensa is an excellent example of Chinni’s abstract work. The sculpture is composed of multiple rock-like shapes that appear to be balanced on each other in a cantilevered arrangement. Another version of the sculpture is installed in the gardens at Kykuit, a Rockefeller family estate in Pocantico Hills, NY.
