Restaurant forced to close some days due to lack of staff - Edmond, OK - News Article Locations on Waymarking.com

A local restaurant is facing the same issue as restaurants nationwide: a shortage of staff. All over the country, restaurants are struggling to find employees.

An Edmond restaurant was forced to close Wednesday, adding it to a growing list of places across the country forced to close during normal hours because of a lack of staff.

"It's just really frustrating for us as well as our customers," said Janelle Sparks, owner of The Fixx.

An empty restaurant and a dark "open" sign on West Edmond Road turned customers away Wednesday.

"People think we don't want to be here, and that is not the case at all," Sparks said.

Sparks told KOCO 5 she's tried everything to hire new workers.

"We don't even get very many applicants, and we've done Indeed, Craigslist and things like that. We've put a sign in the window, a post on social media," she said.

Sparks and her employees pick up the slack to make sure The Fixx stays open.

"I'm in the kitchen in the evenings to make up for some spots so we can be open," she said.

Sparks said she's certain her business will survive.

"I have really strong faith, and I feel like if God wants us to be here, we will be here. We're doing what we can to make it work," Sparks said.

Along with closing on certain days, The Fixx's hours of operation also have adjusted. The Oklahoma Restaurant Association told KOCO 5 the same thing is happening all over the state.
