It was a long and winding road for this Yellow Submarine mural to be painted in downtown Fargo. This building opened in 1959 as a neighborhood gas station. The second owner closed the service station in 2015 and it was purchased by the city of Fargo.
In 2016 Fargo had a few gatherings of food trucks at the site. Also in 2016 The Kilbourne Group purchased the property and hosted a few pop-up art events. Murals were painted as one of the events. In the mural on the righthand garage door is the Yellow Submarine. I did notice that the portholes were changed from round to a more rectangular shape.

Connection to The Beatles:
The animated movie and song "Yellow Submarine" both came out in 1968 and the "Yellow Submarine" album was released in 1969. The series of murals here are undersea scenes painted in the style of the movie and other drawings of the Beatle's Yellow Submarine.
